Banoffee Tirami Trifle

The banoffee tiramisu trifle is a delicious dessert that combines the flavors of banoffee pie and tiramisu. It is made with layers of ladyfingers, espresso, mascarpone cheese, bananas, caramel sauce, and whipped cream.

Ingredients:

For the ladyfingers:

* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 4 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the espresso:

* 1 cup strong brewed espresso
* 1 tablespoon Kahlua (optional)

For the mascarpone filling:

* 1 pound mascarpone cheese, softened
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the banana layer:

* 4 ripe bananas, sliced

For the caramel sauce:

* 1 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup water
* 1/4 cup heavy cream
* 1 tablespoon butter

For the whipped cream:

* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

To make the ladyfingers:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the flour, beating until just combined.
6. Transfer the batter to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
7. Pipe 2-inch long ladyfingers onto the prepared baking sheet.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Let cool completely.

To make the espresso:

1. Brew 1 cup of strong espresso.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of Kahlua, if desired.

To make the mascarpone filling:

1. In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.

To make the banana layer:

1. Slice 4 ripe bananas.

To make the caramel sauce:

1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water.
2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sugar has melted and turned a deep amber color.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and butter.
5. Let cool slightly.

To make the whipped cream:

1. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

To assemble the trifle:

1. In a trifle dish or large bowl, layer the ladyfingers, espresso, mascarpone filling, bananas, caramel sauce, and whipped cream.
2. Repeat the layers until all of the ingredients have been used.
3. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Tips:

* For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate ladyfingers.
* To make the trifle ahead of time, assemble it up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate.
* To serve, garnish with shaved chocolate or chopped nuts.
