Blackberry Tiramisu with Chocolate Sauce

Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert made with ladyfingers soaked in coffee and layered with a creamy filling. This version of tiramisu uses blackberries and a chocolate sauce for a delicious twist on the original.

Ingredients:

For the ladyfingers:

* 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup (100g) sugar
* 3 large eggs, separated
* 1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt

For the filling:

* 1 pound (450g) mascarpone cheese, softened
* 1 cup (200g) sugar
* 3 large eggs, separated
* 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
* 1 pint (473ml) heavy cream

For the blackberry layer:

* 1 pint (473ml) fresh blackberries
* 1/4 cup (50g) sugar

For the chocolate sauce:

* 1 cup (200g) semisweet chocolate chips
* 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream

Instructions:

To make the ladyfingers:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale yellow. Beat in the vanilla extract.
4. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
5. Fold the egg whites into the egg yolk mixture, then fold in the flour mixture.
6. Spread the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Let the ladyfingers cool completely.

To make the filling:

1. In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and sugar until smooth.
2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks until thick and pale yellow. Beat in the vanilla extract.
3. Fold the egg yolks into the mascarpone mixture.
4. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
5. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.

To make the blackberry layer:

1. In a medium bowl, combine the blackberries and sugar. Let stand for 15 minutes, or until the blackberries have released their juices.

To make the chocolate sauce:

1. In a small saucepan, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

To assemble the tiramisu:

1. Dip half of the ladyfingers into the coffee and arrange them in a single layer in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Spread half of the filling over the ladyfingers.
3. Top with the blackberry layer.
4. Spread the remaining filling over the blackberries.
5. Dip the remaining ladyfingers into the coffee and arrange them in a single layer on top of the filling.
6. Pour the chocolate sauce over the tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Tips:

* For a stronger coffee flavor, use a dark roast coffee.
* If you don't have heavy cream, you can use whipped cream instead.
* To make the tiramisu ahead of time, assemble it up to 2 days in advance. Keep it refrigerated until ready to serve.
