How to Layer Lasagna



Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that is made with layers of pasta, sauce, cheese, and meat. It is a delicious and hearty meal that is perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion.

To make lasagna, you will need the following ingredients:

* 1 package (12 ounces) lasagna noodles
* 1 jar (28 ounces) tomato sauce
* 1 pound ground beef
* 1/2 pound Italian sausage
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1 teaspoon dried basil
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
* 1 cup ricotta cheese
* 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
* 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions.
3. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain off excess grease.
4. Add onion and garlic to skillet and cook until softened.
5. Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
6. In a large baking dish, spread 1 cup of tomato sauce.
7. Top with 6 lasagna noodles.
8. Spread with 1/2 of the ricotta cheese.
9. Spread with 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.
10. Repeat layers.
11. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
12. Bake for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
13. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Tips:

* For a richer flavor, use a combination of ground beef and ground pork.
* To make your lasagna ahead of time, assemble it and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to bake, bring to room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
* Lasagna can also be frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes, or until heated through.
